Minecraft and what it means when I play

     Some people think that playing Minecraft is a childish thing. When I play I feel my grandson Ryan whispering to me. He and I used to play all the time, we would explore caverns, invent redstone together and make incredible houses. My grandson died February 9th, 2018. He was my best friend, my pal, my partner in crime. We could play for hours and explore for hours the hidden caverns and crevices of the game called Minecraft. Now when I play I hear his ideas in my head, sometimes it makes me sad but most of the time it gives me such joy. I remember things he wanted to do, so I learn how to do them. I remember how he just loved to spend time with his grandma. We would stay up for hours talking about the different things we would do the things we would accomplish, the new updates and what they would come out with. We built a town once that had colors, and a garden for his grandpa who passed away, we had a train that went from one end of the mesa to the other, stopping off at everyone's home. He wanted a large house built from the top of the mesa to the bottom floor of Minecraft. we did that!.. And on every server we have moved too, on every game I make him one. It may seem silly to play a childish game, but in the shadows of the mines, in the gurgling of the Lava, in the rushes of the water, I hear Ryan.. I now enjoy those moments with my granddaughter, and the fun continues, She puts her own spin on things and helps me see with different eyes. I share her laughter, he frustrations, and joy.. We share the pure excitement of the adventure. I am sure in time she will leave the game of Minecraft and pursue other adventures. Hopefully she will remember those days she and grandma played together. So yes I do play a childish game called Minecraft!
